On the evening of November 5, 1975, in the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest near Snowflake, Arizona, Travis Walton, a 22-year-old logger, and his six co-workers encountered a large, glowing, disc-shaped object hovering above a clearing in the woods. When Walton approached it, he was allegedly struck by a beam of light and thrown backward. Believing he was dead or injured, his coworkers fled in terror. Walton disappeared for five days and later claimed he had been taken aboard an alien craft, where he encountered both humanoid and non-human beings. His account became the subject of books, interviews, polygraph tests, and the film Fire in the Sky.
