Non-Competition Policy
The point of this program is to teach you how to teach this content so you can go out and teach yourself. However, you will be asked during the program, until you graduate, to focus on the program and to wait to start teaching the content you are till after you graduate. If you are already teaching other content, you may start to incorporate the content in this course as you master it. Regardless, you will agree to not recruit students you meet in this program into programs, classes or practice groups of your own. No personal recruiting from the ISC registered students or volunteers will be tolerated. If it is discovered that a student in the teaching program, has violated this policy they will be released from the program without a refund.
If there is any questions or confusion regarding this policy, or any “grey” areas of uncertainty, it will the student teacher’s responsibility to discuss this with the ISC director before proceeding.
Non-Harassment and Abuse Policy
No harassment or abuse, including sexual, emotional, or mental will be tolerated of any students by any student teacher/apprentice or any student for that matter. All students at the ISC are seen as competent adults already coming into the program with their own unique set of experiences, knowledge, and proficiency, if not with these topics than with others. Part of the teacher training in learning values of how to teach others, set boundaries but not overly control, play power games, guru games or have power trips over others. Student and Graduate Teachers may have mastered more of the curriculum, and may have gotten more reading experience, but this does not mean that they are better, more powerful, more worthy, then the students. No student teacher may require or ask a student to do favors for them. At times they may request a student to assist while they are facilitating a group or in need of help, but this assistance can only be during an ISC class or practice group, not outside of it and it should enhance the students own confidence and skillset and worthiness.
If the student teacher/apprentice has any questions or concerns about an interaction with a student or volunteer, initiated by themselves or the student, then they should bring this to the ISC director. Students will be advised to do the same.
If someone is found harassing or abusing students they will be suspended from the program without a refund.
The ISC follows the ethics set forth for instructors at public universities.
Graduates of the ISC agree to avoid exerting undue influence over others.
Legal actions of this policy can be violated.
Certificate of Good Standing
Upon graduation, students will hold their graduate certificates. However, these certificates of Good Standing that come with the graduate certificates can be revoked at any time if there is sound evidence to suggest that the teacher has gone onto harass or abuse students, within or outside of the ISC’s scope. This is intended to protect the public and the field overall. Graduates of the ISC agree to avoid exerting undue influence over others.
