Adolf Hitler
Adolf Hitler (1889–1945) was the dictator of Nazi Germany and the central figure behind World War II and the Holocaust. Born in Austria, he rose to power as the leader of the Nazi Party, becoming Chancellor in 1933 and later consolidating power as Führer. His regime was marked by extreme nationalism, militarism, and the systematic persecution and murder of six million Jews and millions of others during the Holocaust. His expansionist policies led to the devastation of much of Europe and ultimately to Germany's defeat.
Physically, Hitler stood about 5 feet 8 inches tall, with dark brown hair combed to the side, pale blue eyes, and a trademark toothbrush mustache. He typically wore military-style uniforms and projected an image of stern authority. On April 30, 1945, as Soviet forces closed in on Berlin, Hitler died by suicide in his underground bunker alongside his wife of one day, Eva Braun.
